Humidifier question! Dampit!
haha get it, damm it dampit... anyway.
I dont get how it fits in the soundhole. it touches the strings so how can i play with it in. i dont get how to use this dampit thing at all.
How often do you need to have a humidifier in it? note.. i live in cold climate with heat on 24/7. can i just leave it in over night and take out during the day when i play it?

i dont like how the strings are lifted up by the cover, is it alright that the strings are lift? i dont like leaving it like that for a long period of time. it might ruin the tension or something...

what is your target humidity level? 40% because the bad thing with the sound hole hunidifiers is you still have to use them year round. your guitar get used to the level you are supplying it take a memory to it. so if your on then off with the humidity then what happens is the wood expands and contracts then you get cracks. so what i do is in the room with the guitars i run a free standing humidifier all night long and off when at work. it been working fine for me.. also your guitar has a finish on it and it less liking to exchange humidity easily.. i would get rid of the sound hole humidifier!
Soak the dampit in cool water (filter it if you have hard water to make the dampit last longer) and then squeeze out the excess water. Wipe it dry and then attach the pen style hook to the plastic soundhole cover it comes with. Lay the dampit through the soundhole and then slide the cover under the strings. You might have to remove some of the slack on the string by tying a knot a little lower down on the string. Then watch the humidy indicator and if you start to see that the pink is getting a little too high up on the meter, take the dampit out. I usually leave the soundhole cover on my guitar without the dampit to keept track of its humidity level, then put the dampit in when its needed. Hope that helped.

Ok, this is what the guys at Good N Loud Music said to me. Do the soaking and such like he said (best to just get a jug of distilled water, and use that). The soundhole thing, it doesn't have to go under the strings. Actualy, they told me take it off and hook the humidifier on one of the strings and it hangs into the guitar. I then stick the cover near the soundhole. Then, keep the case shut. It's also a good idea of getting an extra dampit just to get the cover and hang it in your room, so you know the humidity level in your room. It's also recommended to use the same thing with solid bodied guitars. Just leave the humidifier next to your electric while in it's case.
The one thing they have told me, don't leave your guitar sit out over night and such. Keep it in it's case when not being played. That's the best way to keep your guitar's wood in the right shape.
