wait why no chords? if you can play one note cant you play 3(or more) for a chord?Ranting Thespian wrote:It is then near impossible to play any chords on it, then. So it would only be for lead playing.
ive played fretless basses...very cool...different sound, feel, and does take that feel and ear to put the notes in the right spot

ive seen many a fretless in my travelings to the guitar bowels of the internet. i find most are baritone electrics. chords arent impossible, you just better be damn good or you'll sound out of tune

Ok, do you know how hard it is to put your fingers down really quickly and have them hit the EXACT spot to get the right note, and not even be a milimeter off? Then do that in less than a second hundreds of times, with multiple strings, while changing chords. Not even Tim could do that. Frets are there to make sure you hit that note without having to be a "GOD" and be able to hit each exact note in the percise spot every time. The frets hit the spot, and you have a little leway between frets to put your fingers down. One way to think of it is like thisi am sam2 wrote:wait why no chords? if you can play one note cant you play 3(or more) for a chord?
Frets = Digital
Fretless = analog
if that helps.

thats what everyone thinks, but in reality it's really out of tune and just all over the place in generalfilmdude100cms wrote:yep the fretless bass made me think fretless guitar, and i found some on the net. and i can play a fretless bass as well if not better than a fretted.
and as far as chords go, don't expect to do anything bigger then double stops or triple stops
