warwick makes one called Alien Stage Acoustic. i dont know if its any good because ive never really been interested in an acoustic bass, but its a warwick, so i assume its gotta be pretty good.

looks spensive though and its not in production

Guild and Tacomas make good ones. Stefan played a Guild one a few times at shows.

Yes - acoustic basses look very similar and are played like electric basses, but use acoustic strings and don't have electric pickups.

yeah what ^ said, but the basses in orchestras are known as acoustic uprights so ur not completely wrong

Personally, I like the godin semi acoustic ones (*similar to chet atkins guitars, but basses, and awesomer...) but if that's not available, then just get a good brand and good quality instrument. make sure he PLAYS IT FIRST...

yeh i kno, id neva buy an instrument without playin it... we looked at the godins but they were a bit out of his price range

I know in a picture from Yoshi's in the Step Into the Light book, you see Stefan playing one, it's a cutaway as well.
